Last week ( Nov. 5th - 9th) Jay and I were fortunate enough to be able to head to South Carolina and see my brother Clint. He has been living out in Georgetown S.C. for the past 4 years. And we were finally able to go see him! We had such a blast hanging out with him and seeing the old town and trying fresh sea food. Friday we took our bikes out and rode around town seeing all the historical sites and beautiful scenery. I love how green it is and all the trees there. There is actually a law there that you cant cut down a certain tree. These trees have been around for hundreds of years and have seen the wars. Amazing! We rode our bikes down the docks stopped for peel and eat shrimp and to try their famous sweet tea. Way to sweet for me, but they love it. We went and talked to the lady of a house that was built in 1762, I believe. Beautiful home, so much history in it. That night we hung out at the dock where so many of the
restaurants and bars are. We went to dinner and a very nice place and Jay got the shrimp and grits. Also a favorite. It really was very good. I went to the extreme and got a delicious steak! Saturday Clint took us out on a boat and we hung out all day on the lakes driving around and just hanging out. Such a great time! We saw the tails of a few alligators but not their bodies. I was a little sad about that. I wanted to see a few. We drove around some creeks (which are as big as our rivers) and in the swamp lands. That night we went to Clints friends parents house for an oyster party. They caught the oysters that morning along with the shrimp. This house is so beautiful. It looks out on the river (the size of a lake I swear) with a private dock that is 500 yards long! We tried oysters, not my thing by the way (I tried them fresh, steamed and on a cracker) and had a few different styles of shrimp. During the dinner I got to witness a true southern style College Football game. I say southern style because I have never met so many people who were that passionate about their college team. There was yelling, name calling, mocking, throwing things, and a storm out! It was hilarious! After the game we went to the dock and lit off fireworks! Great way to end the night! Sunday Clint took us to Charleston on a carriage ride through town with a history tour. There was so much information and history there I couldn't believe it. After the ride we walked to where the first shot of the civil war was shot. It's so hard for me to imagine all that went on. We were walking the same streets where people had been fighting in the war! We saw all the beautiful old homes, not what I thought though. They packed them in sideways. So when you are walking down the streets you see the side of the house and their front porch is looking at the back of another home. But the style is exactly what I imagined. On our way home we stopped by Edgar Allen Poe's house he grew up in and had a great burger dinner. The next morning we were on the plane heading back to the real world. Thank you Clint so much for showing us such a great time!

On Saturday Jay took me to the Real Soccer Game against the Colorado Rapids. What a great day. Jay and I were lucky enough to be able to eat at the Budweiser Club House. Which, by the way has great food and is right there next to the field. While we were eating we got the watch the teams warm up and Start the game. After dinner we went to our seats 4th row from the front right behind the players. I have never been to a MLS game before and we had so much fun! I do have to say though, those soccer players sure can play up an "injury". I was laughing so hard because some guy from the other team was laying on the ground "hurt" and everyone just kept on with the game. He was lying there for at least 30 sec. By the way I wasn't laughing at the player, I was laughing at the fact no one cared and just kept playing without him. After a while our teams player went to see if he was ok, the ref. noticed and started walking over. The other teams player figured he wasn't going to have the our team carded he stood up and just started playing again! It was so funny! Anyway very dramatic players just to try and get a yellow card. What a fun night though! I recommend going if you ever get the chance. What a fun game. By the way of course we won! 3-0 Real Salt Lake! Real Salt Lake!
