Spit Test

So there is a home test out there to determine what sex the baby is. Now I know there are many test to try like the wedding ring above the hand and what ever way it swings blah blah blah. But this one I think actually works. Well it did with Ava, my sisters last two kids (the only ones she tried it on) my sister-in-laws two kids, and every lady who was pregnant that she worked with (all their kids they tried it on). Anywho, so this is how the test goes. When your past your 10 week mark (that's when the hormones start to develop in the little one) you buy crystallized Drainol pour a little into a cup and when you wake up in the morning before you drink water, brush your teeth or anything, you spit into the cup.

Sounds funny I know but, if nothing happens it means your having a girl. If it fizzes, turns black and smokes it means your having a boy. Now whoever came up with this is I don't know what they were thinking, but so far it has worked. So down to the results. According to my test I recently took we are having a boy. I am writing this down now so we can all look back and see if it was a hoaks or real. We may find out in Feb. or we may wait and be surprised. I'm not sure what we are going to do yet. I should say I not we because Jay doesn't care one way or the other. He actually didn't want to find out if Ava was going to be a girl or boy. I think he feels the same for this baby as well. So until then... what do you guys think about finding out or not?

Christmas Already?

I can not believe Christmas has come and gone already! Where has the year gone? Well our Christmas was wonderful. We started out on Christmas Eve at Jays mom's house for dinner and to hang out. Sheril and Jerry spoil Ava rotten. They not only helped pay for Ava's new slide, they also gave her coloring books, and a tea set. So nice of them. After hanging out there we went to see the lights in down town Ogden then came home to hang out with Scott Laura and their kids. Ava unwrapped her Christmas Pj's (I love them) and we played some games and of course ate all neighbor treats.

Christmas morning was so fun. We woke Ava up and brought her in to open presents. She loves taking the wrapping paper off one little strip at a time. We all took our turns unwrapping gifts then we showed Ava her big gift, the slide. Wow, does she ever love that thing. Circles and circles of sliding! After all the gifts and stockings we had our friends Donna and Az over along with Clint and Sandie. We made a huge Christmas breakfast and played more games. I love playing board games with friends and family. Ava took a nap then we headed to Stacey's house for dinner. It was so fun! Clint forgot to make the family tradition cheese ball and was trying to get Laura to find a store open on Christmas to buy all the ingredients. Not sure if you know this or not but the only place open is Walgreen's, and they don't have a huge selection of food. Anywho, at Stacey's we were trying to make due without and Stacey realized she had most of the items for the cheese ball. We did have to go to the neighbors for just a few things but we got our cheese ball and it was almost gone by the time dinner started! It was so funny to watch everyone run around trying to figure something out and make it all come together last second. I had such a great time this Christmas! I hope you all did too!

At the first of the season we set up our Christmas tree and went sledding. While going down the "hill" Emma was so excited she ran into Ava and me, causing us to tip over. Ava got a little snow rash on her face but still wanted to play, so we kept going! We also went to see Santa and his reindeer at WSU. Ava was still nervous about Santa but loved the reindeer.

By the way, if you are still reading this. We went to the Dr. to find out what was going on (twins or not). Come to find out our babies organs were hanging out (normal) and were shaped like another baby. That's what he and the other Dr. though was the second baby. So in conclusion. Only one baby. I'm ok with this and am just happy we have a healthy baby!

Drum Roll Please...

So I have some news I am now sharing with everyone. You might be thinking it already so I will just tell you now. We are going to be adding another little one to the Ackett family! That's right baby #2! We are due around July 7th. I told Jay on Halloween by placing a card in one of the pumpkins that he had to go out and light. Im pretty sure he is excited, maybe a little nervous too.

When we went to our first Dr. visit, Nov. 22, our Dr. told us we were having twins! Holy Crap! He took a picture of the two sent it to another Dr. who confirmed and so did his nurse who does all the ultra-sounds. So the next Monday I had to go in for another ultra sound (with the nurse who saw the previous pictures). During the ultra sound she could only find one baby. I asked her if we lost the other baby and she said "no, she would be able to see traces of it if I did." She then told me she would have bet her career on the fact that I was having twins, now she is certain I'm having one but has no idea what happened to the other. So she asked her Dr. to come in and take a look. He also said he saw the earlier picture and I was having twins, but also has no idea what happened to it. How weird. So for now we are having one, but in the back of my mind I am still trying to prepare just in case they change their mind again and say we are having two. Who knows now a days! I go in for my next check up this Monday the 20th of Dec. So I will post what happens soon. (along with pictures)

Friends for the Holidays

My best friend Ashley her daughter Zoey and her husband Matt came back to Utah, from Philadelphia, for the holidays. I am so glad they are back in town. I have missed hanging out with her. On the 15th Ashley, Zoey, Ava and I went to the Discovery Gateway in Salt Lake. It was really a fun time and the girls had a blast (especially with all the balls)!

Saturday afternoon my other best friend Teisha and I went to a late birthday turned Christmas lunch at Zupas (love the place). We sat there and talked for ever and could have talked hours more. It has been way too long hanging out with Teish. I really had a great time. Thanks Teish! Matt flew in sat. and we went to dinner with Ashley, Zoey and Matt and Temple Square to see the lights. They are so fun to hang out with, can't wait to hit the slopes with them too.

We had such a wonderful time. I love going there it is always a fun time. On Sat. we went to the Zoo all day Ava loved seeing all the animals especially the Polar Bears. She would tell everyone there how cute the bear was in her high pitched voice. It was so funny! When it was time to head to the next animal Ava broke down and cried her little eyes out.

Sunday Jay took Ava and me to the ocean we spent a good portion of the day there. Ava loved the water but the tide was so sporadic that we had to hold Ava's hand a lot so it wouldn't knock her over.

On Monday and Tuesday Ava and I went to Sea World while Jay went to work with some Cali. partners. Sea World was having a 2 for on on adults. I'm glad we did that, we had time to see every exhibit and show with out having to hurry through. The best one I would have to say and I think Ava would agree was the dolphin show. It was amazing! They had divers, trapeze artist and so much more. The show was around an hour and Ava and I just sat there the whole time staring in awe! Dolphins! Oh the Dolphins! Ava loved, loved the dolphins, so do I. We hung out at the dolphin pool for 45 min. just watching all the dolphins (I couldn't complain I could watch them for hours). We went and fed and petted the dolphins, Ava liked feeding them but wasn't so sure about touching them. After we hung out a bit longer and a dolphin came up to us let us pet it (Ava did this time) then splashed us and waved to us! No trainers telling the dolphin what to do! It was amazing! After we left every time we passed a stand with stuffed dolphins Ava had to stop pick up a dolphin give it a hug, set it back, pick up another, hug it and set it back. Every

time! Do you know how many stands have stuffed Dolphins? A lot! So I decided Ava needed one, and bought one for her. She didn't have to hug any others after.
